Launch of Iain McMenamin's 'If Money Talks, What Does It Say? Corruption and Business Financing of Political Parties
On 6th March 2013, Minister for Education Ruairí Quinn launched ‘If Money Talks, What Does It Say? Corruption and Business Financing of Political Parties’ (Oxford University Press) at the Royal Irish Academy, Dublin. The book by Dublin City University (DCU) political scientist Dr Iain McMenamin considers why business contributes to political parties. Using case studies of Australia, Canada and Germany and data dating back to 1984, the book analyses the detailed processes involved in the business financing of parties. An e-book Citizens' Voices, based on the Deliberative and participatory democracy specialist group's symposium 'Beyond the ballot: diverse forms of citizen engagement between democratic elections' held in Dublin in March 2012, may be downloaded from the group's homepage.

PSAI Teaching and Learning Award 2011
The winner of the award for 2011 is Dr Brendan Flynn, NUI Galway for his contribution to teaching excellence in Politics. Further details are available here

The Brian Farrell book prize 2012
For Best Book Published in Political Science in 2011

The PSAI awards an annual prize for the best book published in political science by a member of the Political Studies Association of Ireland. The prize is awarded each year at the annual conference. The 2011 Brian Farrell Book Prize was awarded to Peter Shirlow, Jonathan Tonge, James McAuley and Catherine McGlynn, for their book 'Abandoning Historical Conflict? Former Political Prisoners and Reconciliation in Northern Ireland

The competition is open to single-authored and jointly-authored books written by PSAI members and published in 2011. Nominations for the book prize are sough each year in May.
