PSAI SUPPORT FOR BOOK LAUNCHES

The Political Studies Association of Ireland has established a scheme intended to provide support to PSAI members for book launches.

The PSAI may provide up to €250 for the promotion of academic political studies publications, subject to the following conditions:

  • at least one author/editor of the book must be a PSAI member;
  • the fact of the PSAI's support should be acknowledged in whatever ways are possible (eg, on the launch invitation or during the launch itself);
  • representative members of the PSAI are invited to attend the launch (eg, members of the committee and/or of any relevant specialist group);
  • the PSAI must be provided with receipts documenting an expenditure of at least the funding requested.

It should be noted that not all applications will be funded; the PSAI committee will make its decisions on a case-by-case basis, having regard to available resources, the likely level of interest among the membership as a whole in the particular publication, and other relevant factors.

If an application is successful, it should be noted that whatever amount the PSAI offers is the total amount the Association will provide. So long as receipts are supplied, the Association is happy for its funding to be used in any appropriate way (eg, venue hire, drinks/catering, travel expenses for a guest to speak at the launch, etc), but in no circumstances will the PSAI be prepared to provide more than it originally offers to.

Applications can be submitted at any time to Theresa Reidy, Department of Government, O'Rahilly Building, University College Cork, Cork, Republic of Ireland; email: T.Reidy@ucc.ie.
