Welcome to the PSAI

The Political Studies Association of Ireland promotes the study of politics both in and of Ireland.

PSAI 2016 Annual Conference

The 2016 Annual Conference took place in Belfast, and was attended by more than 150 participants from around Ireland and abroad. The 2017 conference will be hosted by Dublin City University, at a date and venue to be decided.

The 2016 Annual Conference was hosted by Queens University Belfast and held at the Europa Hotel, Belfast, over the weekend of 7th-9th October.

PSAI Postgraduate Biennial Conference

The PSAI also hosts a biennial Postgraduate Conference. The next conference will be held in 2018, at a venue to be confirmed.

The most recent was the 2016 Postgraduate Conference held in Belfast. The theme of the conference was "Irish Politics 1916-2016: 100 Years of Continuity and Change".

PSAI prizes awarded

  • 2016 Brian Farrell Book Prize:
    The PSAI is delighted to award the 2016 Brian Farrell Book Prize to be awarded to Dr William Phelan (TCD) for his book In Place of Inter-State Retaliation: The European Union's Rejection of WTO-style Trade Sanctions and Trade Remedies (Oxford University Press).
  • 2016 Basil Chubb PhD Prize:
    The 2016 Basil Chubb prize for best PhD thesis at an Irish university in 2015 has been awarded to Dr. Jessica Doyle (UCD) for her thesis Civil Society Organizations, the State and Democracy: The Case of Turkey.
